ALM’s The Recorder Goes to Weekly Print, 24/7 DigitalWednesday, June 2, 2010 In response to a majority of current subscribers who say they prefer to access its content digitally, ALM’s California newspaper for the legal profession The Recorder is moving from daily to weekly publication. The print title will be available on Monday of each week, but much of the daily news reporting will now fall to the Web site. ALM tells minonline that more people are subscribing to the brand online now than in print. Print subscribers will be allowed full access to all premium content on the site starting with a June 7 relaunch. The site will handle the new demand by expanding its coverage of California legal news headlines, integrating a “Legal Pad” professional blog, adding Twitter feeds and user comments by registered members. According to publisher Brian Hunt, most of the newspaper’s readers had already made the move to digital, and he expected the trend to continue. “The shift to a weekly print publishing schedule will enable us to better serve our digital customers while continuing to deliver a quality, must-read print publications,” says Hunt. ALM is now selling a single bundle that includes the print weekly and full Web access for $349 a year. Daily email alerts and selected daily headlines and features will be free to all.
