Coverleaf.com Adds Rodale Titles

Texterity’s digital magazine newsstand Coverleaf.com is adding Rodale books to its growing catalog of digitized titles. Prevention, Men’s Health, Women’s Health, Runner’s World, Best Life, Bicycling, Running Times and Organic Gardening all will be available at the site, which lets users preview magazines, clip articles and share content among friends.

Since its launch in September 2008, Coverleaf.com has been seeing exponential membership growth, says Wendy Zingher, general manager. “We have doubled our members in the last month,” she tells minonline. The service aims to engage a magazine’s current and potential subscribers more deeply by allowing them access to digital versions and sharing mechanisms. The magazine brand partners promote the service in print and online, and Coverleaf engages in some search engine marketing as well. Recent SEM programs involved specific title promotions for Sporting News and Pregnancy.

Visitors to Coverleaf.com can browse recent issues of more than 50 titles and view select content in the Texterity digital magazine viewer. In addition to creating a MyStuff section of bookmarked titles and saved page clippings, users also can access full content from the magazines to which they already subscribe in print. Coverleaf.com also recently added titles from the Future US line, including Pregnancy and Maximum PC. Discover Media’s Discover also joined the library.

Zingher says that digital clipping of articles has proven remarkably popular among early members. The service averages one clip per member. While some members don't clip articles at all, many pile up pages upon pages that they can share with friends by email or Facebook pages. Zingher says the next stage of promotion for the project will involve more SEM and othe routreach to attract more new subscribers for magazines. The company is partnered with Meredith and Mansueto Ventures to include their titles as well.
