BREAKING NEWS & VIEWS
Hearst Magazines International's George Green to Retire vp Green's moving to HMI was news more because it took him out of the running for the HM presidency than for the importance of his new job. At the time, HMI only had 28 editions, but under Green it expanded to 200-plus, with many new licensing partners. Green became a respected ambassador not only for Hearst Corp., but also for the magazine industry. He also has two highly regarded lieutenants in Jeanette Chang (ex-Harper's Bazaar publisher) and Jay McGill (ex-Popular Mechanics/SmartMoney publisher) that Edwards will inherit.Green, who received the Magazine Publishers of America's Henry Johnson Fisher Award in 1997, was The New Yorker president when the weekly was sold to Condé Nast chairman S.I. Newhouse Jr., in 1985. He is married to Jordan Edmiston Group founder (1988) Wilma Jordan. If you have breaking news to share please contact Steve Smith at ssmith@accessintel.com COMMENTS
