min magazine Celebrates the Best in Media

Despite current economic woes, spirits were high this morning (Nov. 10) as min magazine celebrated the very best and brightest in media at the Grand Hyatt in New York. Aside from the 21 most intriguing, the digital hot list and the hottest launches, several other awards were announced this morning, such as the Hottest launch of the year, an honor that went to Spry magazine. Lewis H. Lapham of Lapham's Quarterly was awarded Launch Editor of the Year and Ryan Swanson of Personal Development magazine was honored with Launch Art Director of the Year. The Spry team also picked up Launch Publishing Team of the Year.

Consumer executive of the year Richard Beckman, president of Conde Nast Media Group, joked about the current state of the publishing industry, "They say what doesn't kill you...really, really hurts." While jokes don't ease the suffering that the industry is feeling, rewarding 2008's amazing successes - such as the fact that over 600 new magazine launched last year - helps place the focus back on the positive.

Also honored this morning were b2b's 15 to Watch (aged 35 and younger), presented by min's b2b editor Naomi Reiter.
