Announcement at min's press time Friday (October 10), first broken by Mediaweek.com, continues the  how - quickly - they-rise/how-quickly-they-fall pattern of teen girls' magazines. Cosmo Girl!, like the folded Teen People before it, launched in the late-1990s as the segment's ad market was booming. But that was also before the Internet, cell phones, text-messaging, etc., boomed, too, and when the teens' money started going there, YM, Ellegirl, TP, and now CG!  became 21st-century victims. Bad economy, of course, made things worse. Founding "CG!" editor (1999-2003): Atoosa Rubenstein, whose tenure made her a star.
