AMC's kick-off was packed with interesting speakers and annoucements, including Dreamworks CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg's claim that 3D is the next evolution of movies, but Advertising Age revealing its A-List of Top Ten Magazines was one of the best highlights. The consistently bold and well-researched content, plus a little help from the current economist crisis helped The Economist snag the title of Magazine of the Year. National Geographic's Chris Johns was names Editor of the Year and Elle's Carol Smith was named Publisher of the Year. In a video acceptance of the award, Smith claimed that Elle's greatest accomplishment of 2008 was sliding into the number two spot for women's fashion mags. "We are right there, knocking on Vogue's door," Smith claimed.
