Just two weeks after Brownridge abruptly ended his one-year stint as ceo of the Maxim-/Blender-flagshipped Alpha Media, he signs on to head the U.S. operations of the celebrity weekly OK!, which British magnate Richard Desmond launched in August 2005. Per the New York Post's Keith Kelly, who broke the news today (Sept. 3), Brownridge plans to retain OK!'s U.S. executive hierarchy, led by publisher Tom Morrissy and editor-in-chief Sarah Ivens. This new chapter to Brownridge's suddenly active career comes after 31 years (1975-2006) as Jann Wenner's top lieutenant at Rolling Stone (mostly as g.m.).
