According to last week's poll, 55.6% of min readers said that they have signed up (or would sign up) to receive text messages from a political party. This not only reflects a modern presidential race, but also time in which people would be inclined to open up their mobiles to political campaigns...and also potentially to mobile marketers.

I am one of the people who signed up for political text messages. While I am as excited as any American about the presidential election process--excited enough to want my candidate's running partner conveyed to me immediately--I am now being inundated with messages and calls for donations that I did not sign up for. Unfortunate by-product of a good idea.
