Latest--but probably not last--magazine victim of the weak economy is the Hachette Filipacchi Media U.S.-owned Home, which will end regular publication with the October 2008 issue. A hint of Home's fate followed the May 14 passing of editor-in-chief Olivia Monjo, who was not replaced. About 10-12 staffers, led by vp/publisher (since March 2001) Jack Grant, were affected. min is told that efforts will be made to relocate them within the company, and that there is the possibility of Home being revived as a "special interest magazine" when the economy improves.

The 1 million rate-base Home was owned by Knapp Communications from its 1955 launch until its 1991 sale to HFM, and for years it was the "midscale" complement to Elle Decor and Metropolitan Home. Most recent Home frequency was 10 times a year, and a "niche" was having a "show house" at the Super Bowl site beginning with Houston in February 2004.
