It was not unexpected that American Media Inc. editorial director Bonnie Fuller resigned on May 13. The gossip about her business relationship with David Pecker--who recruited her with much fanfare (and much $$$) from Wenner Media's Us Weekly in June 2003--was as juicy to media watchers as Britney Spears' escapades were to Star readers. But Pecker, at the Magazine Publishers of America's May 22 Breakfast with a Leader, said that "Bonnie was vital to Star's success in become a glossy, and to upgrading our other magazines [Country Weekly/Shape/Men's Fitness, etc.]. She was worth the investment, but businesses evolve, and with Candace Trunzo as Star editor-in-chief [since early 2007], Bonnie made the right decision at the right time. She also worked for us longer than at her previous jobs."

Pecker predicted that Fuller's next stop will be television. If so, it would end a near-three-decade print career in her native Canada (Flare) and the U.S. (Women's Wear Daily/YM/Marie Claire/Cosmopolitan/Glamour/Us Weekly/AMI).
