Bonnie Fuller, who has served as Executive Vice President and Chief Editorial Director at American Media, Inc. since July 2003, will resign from those positions as of May 14, 2008. In the future, Ms. Fuller will serve as editor-at-large of AMI’s Star magazine, and also will act as a consultant to the company’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer David J. Pecker.

Last year the day-to-day authority at Star went to editor Candace Trunzo, after she succeeded Joe Dolce, a Fuller ally. After editing the fashion magazine Flare back in her native Toronto, Fuller came to the U.S. with a flourish in 1989 as editor-in-chief of the teen-targted YM. From there, it was Marie Claire (1994-1996), Cosmopolitan (1997-1998), Glamour (1998-2001), US Weekly (2002-2003), and American Media. Her genius (and controversy) was knowing what the readers want.
