TV Guide Makes More Staff Changes

TV Guide magazine, which has been making a lot of changes lately in a rumored effort to modernize the 55-year-old publication, has appointed Debra Birnbaum editor-in-chief and Craig Tomashoff executive editor.

Debra Birnbaum has served as executive editor of TV Guide’s cross-platform content integration for the past year-and-a-half, and has overseen numerous successful franchises including TV’s Sexiest Stars and Online Video Awards. She has more than 15 years of experience as a lifestyle and entertainment reporter and editor including serving as editor-in-chief of Life & Style magazine and executive editor of Inside TV magazine.

Craig Tomashoff most recently served as TV Guide magazine’s west coast bureau chief and will continue to be based in Los Angeles. His extensive background in television and entertainment includes producing and writing for VH1, People magazine, the Boston Herald and the Seattle Times.

With this new editorial team in place, TV Guide magazine will expand upon its breaking news coverage as well as inject more editorial opinion and perspective to its pages.

Debra succeeds Ian Birch, who recently ended a four-year TVG stint with the sale of Gemstar-TVG Inc. to Macrovision. TVG, in turn, is up for sale.
