In a rare maneuver, The Hollywood Reporter unveiled a relaunch of both its website and print magazine today. Bolder yet, the 78 year-old brand has even decided to change its logo and print look when most publications cling to their brand recognition, fearful of change on the print front. But Eric Mika, THR publisher and newly named VP of Nielsen Business Media is confident  in the changes, “It was just time for a change and with our circulation up, we figured now was as good a time as any to do it."

On the print side, the highly-recognizable editorial voice of magazine will change for the better as Mika assures Minonline, “Monday through Thursday, we are going to tighten up the content with shorter, quicker reads. Friday we’ll provide longer, analytical pieces. This is just to stay relevant and keep up with the pace of our readers.” While THR has over 60 reporters and editors working at any given time, Elizabeth Guider is the Editor. Guider oversees both the daily and weekly print editions as well as all digital content, something unique for a publication of with a daily distribution of over 50,000 and a website with 1.9 million uniques per month. Former colleagues at Variety, both Mika and Guider are new to THR,  having been with the publication for less than two years.

Online, the biggest change is the addition of four THR channels, all filled with video from exclusive interviews to festival dailies and also THR’s Box Office Tally, the data for which is provided courtesy of Nielsen Company via their informal partnership.
