Ziff Davis Enterprise is reorganizing almost every department this week, according to chairman and CEO Steve Weitzner. “I’ve been in here a quarter,” he told minonline of his three-month-old position. “I know now what we do have in terms of talent and what we don’t have. Media companies have to stay agile as the business is changing.”

In order to align ZDE’s resources to what its audience wants and to utilize what the company already has, the restructure includes the addition of new employees and new positions, as well as some layoffs. Weitzner also stated that ZDE had too many people working on print and not nearly enough people working on online. His goal is to foster both internal editorial content and audience-generated expertise, such as blogging.

Moves include ZDE’s new CFO, Kevin Neary, formerly CFO of Primedia, and new SVP of product management Mike Azzara, who will oversee online network and print brands. Azzara was formerly SVP of Internet business at CMP.

Weitzner will reveal who else has joined the company and why next week.

What Ziff actually had done is fire all of its editorial staff with any seniority to cut costs. Don't ask me how they expect to have any news to publish in print or online.
