Thanks to a partnerhsip with MySpace, the British NME Magazine Awards will be brought to the U.S. for the first time in 25 years and MySpace is invited. MySpace, which is a notorious launching pad for many indie musicians, will stream the awards live as they take place in Los Angeles at Goldenvoice's El Rey Theatre on April 23. NME, along with festival-producer Goldenvoice, approached MySpace about the venture because in the UK broadcasts are almost only television-based and the magazine wanted to reach further into the online space.

Paul Cheal, publishing director for IPC Media (NME's publisher) told minonline.com, "The United States is the fastest growing territory for us online. We want to expand on that and provide the awards show to everyone online." The one year deal may be expanded in the future, depending on the viewer numbers.

Launched 15 years before giants like Rolling Stone, NME is the longest running music magazine in the world.
