The Atlantic has announced plans to move its sales and marketing teams to New York City, away from their current residence in Washington, DC, in a strategic effort to tap the New York market for advertising and media markets, according to a statement.

About 15 employees will be making the move to the new offices. All moves are expected to be completed by Q2 2008. Elizabeth Keffer will no longer be publisher of the magazine but will instead be in charge of Atlantic Live, an events business that features over 100 events, including the Aspen Ideas festival.  The Atlantic has launched the search for a New York-based publisher.

The entire editorial staff will remain at the Washington, DC offices.
