Announced this morning as a comment on theminsider blog (click on the "show comments" button at the bottom right of the story), Vicki Masseria will be the new CEO of Ascend Media, effective immediately. Cam Bishop, who had previously been CEO, will continue on as chairman.

Masseria was most recently president of CMPMedica. In August of this year, Masseria was replaced at CMPMedica by Sally Shankland who is now CEO. Masseria was the first UBM company helmer to leave this year (Steve Weitzner left his corner office in October).

Masseria takes over a company that has been shedding assets. Earlier this year, it sold its Stagnito food division to BNP Media. Ascend also sold EXPO Magazine to Red7Media in November. And, later in the month, Ascend Shuttered three books: Physician's Money Digest, Family Practice Recertification, and Internal Medicine World Report. Like CMPMedica, Ascend is--now more than ever after the sale of Stagnito and EXPO--a B2B media play focused on healthcare.
