Ascend Media Shutters Three Pubs, Sells Another; More Divestments on the Way

The murmurings we reported on the minsider last week have been confirmed by CEO of Ascend Media, Cam Bishop: Ascend’s Physician’s Money Digest will be shuttering after the November issue, and that Family Practice Recertification and Internal Medicine World Report will fold at the end of the year. Many employees from those properties will be shifted to other properties in the company, but 16 will no longer be with the company. All 16 were on the editorial and production sides, with the exception being that one salesperson was let go. The associated Web sites will also be shuttered.

Also to report is that Ascend has sold Dental Products Shopper to the magazine's publisher, Dave Branch, who will continue to run the pub.

Bishop also told minonline that the company is exploring the sale of the rest of the dental pubs, which have been struggling this year.
