Mike DeBartolo Named AARP Media Chief Revenue Officer

Mike DeBartolo, who is well-experienced in what he calls "big, high-scalable media" in having been a top executive at Reader's Digest, TV Guide and--as publisher from 2011-2012--Parade, is joining AARP Media in the new capacity of senior VP/chief revenue officer. With DeBartolo's March 4, 2013, start, he will oversee advertising sales at all of AARP's properties.
Best known are the 22 million-plus circulation bimonthlies AARP and AARP Bulletin, which serve the membership of AARP--the nonprofit advocate for Americans 50 years old and over. There are digital, radio and television programs as well. The latter currently consists of the PBS-telecast My Generation and Inside E Street.
DeBartolo is becoming AARP Media's top New York-based executive and second-in-command on the business side to Washington, D.C.-based senior VP/general manager (since June 2012) Robyn Motley.
Says she: "Mike has been adept at attracting, building and leading high-performing teams and driving growth at levels that have consistently outperformed the market. We'll look to him to continue to move the needle in this space [by] showing why it's imperative for advertisers to connect with the vitally important 50-plus consumer base."
