Steve Slon to Lead The Saturday Evening PostWednesday, January 18, 2012 The Saturday Evening Post, the oldest magazine in America in having been founded by Ben Franklin in 1728, gets a new editorial director in Steve Slon. The former editor of AARP the Magazine, Slon won the National Magazine Award for his efforts there. Prior to AARP, Slon was Success editor-in-chief and was managing editor at Men’s Health during its years of explosive growth.In December 2010, min honored Slon as Launch Editor of the Year for his work at ChopChop In addition to overseeing the iconic bimonthly, Slon and The Saturday Evening Post Society produce the children’s titles Jack and Jill, Turtle and Humpty Dumpty. The Saturday Evening Post has been Indianapolis-based and in its current format since the SerVaas family acquired the magazine in 1971--four years after it ceased publication as an Philadephia-based weekly that had published regularly since 1821.
