Harty Promotes 11 Meredith Executives

Five weeks into his reign as Meredith Corp. National Media Group (NMG) president, Tom Harty has restructured the executive hierarchy and given his lieutenants promotions and added responsibilities. There were no reported casualties.

Andy Sareyan, was promoted from NMG executive VP/chief brand officer to president/consumer brands, and continues as Harty's No. 2. Harty was president/consumer magazines when he was promoted Aug. 2 to succeed Time Inc.-bound Jack Griffin.

Michael Brownstein, who was NMG senior VP/corporate sales, becomes executive VP/chief revenue officer. Fitness publisher Lee Slattery now reports to him. Jeannine Shao Collins, who was Meredith 360° senior VP, becomes the integrated marketing unit's executive VP/chief innovation officer. Doug Olson continues as NMG executive VP & director of operations and business development, with expanded responsibilities in overseeing men's titles Successful Farming and Wood.

Mike Riggs, who was NMG senior VP/finance, becomes executive VP/general manager with expanded responsibilities in overseeing technology initiatives. Nancy Weber, who was NMG senior VP/chief marketing officer, has been elevated to executive VP/CMO.

Gayle Butler, senior VP/Des Moines editorial director and Better Homes and Gardens editor-in-chief, expands her responsibilities to include BH&G-branded content for Meredith Special Interest Media. Jim Carr, who was Better Homes and Gardens publisher, adds senior VP/group publisher. Family Circle publisher Diane Papazian and Ladies' Home Journal publisher Julie Pinkwater now report to him.

Carey Witmer, who was Parents/American Baby publisher, adds senior VP/group publisher with added supervision over Meredith Hispanic Ventures. Steve Levinson, who was Midwest Living/Traditional Home group publisher, was promoted to VP/group publisher of the two magazines. Brendon Smyth, who was director of corporate sales, was promoted to VP/corporate sales.

Reporting structure: Sareyan, Brownstein, Shao Collins, Olson, Riggs, Weber and Butler report to Harty. Carr and Witmer report to Sareyan. Levinson and Smyth report to Brownstein.
