Smithsonian Mag Auctions Art for Haiti Charity  cover, “And Haiti Will Bloom Again,” from Haitian artist Frantz Zephirin. The magazine will cover the effects of the Haitian earthquake on the country’s art and culture in this issue as well. Smithsonian is putting the Zephirin painting up for auction on eBay Sept. 8-17 and will give half of the proceeds to the Smithsonian Haiti Cultural Recovery Project and will give the other half to Zephirin and his art gallery. Smithsonian created the Haiti Cultural Recovery Project last May in an effort to help the Haitian government restore the cultural materials damaged in the great earthquake last January. The magazine is leasing a building in Port-au-Prince where it is engaged in art restoration and the training of 25 students in conservation.
