SI Says Kansas Will Win the NCAAs  Sports Illustrated (March 22) predicts that Kansas will win it all with a nail-biter in the finals over West Virginia. First test for the Jayhawks is tonight against Lehigh.There is likely little ecstasy in the heartland over the SI anointment, because the weekly's forecasts in any sport are typically as accurate as Shaquille O'Neal's free-throws. Plus, being on an SI cover has long been a "jinx" to athletes, though Lindsey Vonn lived up to the magazine's (Feb. 8) Greatest American Female Skier Ever proclamation at the Winter Olympics. In that context, if Kansas wins or loses, SI will get just one-sixth of the credit or blame, because the Jayhawks are only on one of the six regional covers.
