IEEE Spectrum Nabs Grand Neal Among the special individual award winners, Bob Tippee, editor, Oil & Gas Journal (PennWell) received the G.D. Crain award for contributions to editorial excellence. Rick Bush, editorial director, Transmission & Distribution (Penton) received the Timothy White award for editorial integrity. And The McAllister Editorial Fellow for 2010 will be Bill McDowell, vp and editorial director, Marketing and Technology Group. The McAllister Fellow advances the traditions of business journalism by teaching a week at the Medill School of Journalism. ABM was hoping to transform the Neal Awards this year to better reflect the transition of b2b publishing to a multiplatform media and marketing industry. More than half of the categories in this year’s competition were new and embraced digital media, social networking, video and mobile applications. In “Best Use of Video,” Architectural Record won for its “Record TV” series. DTN/The Progressive Farmer won the “Best Recurring Webcast” category for its “Reporter’s Notebook” series. And Architectural Record won “Best Use of Social Media” for its “Photo Showcase.” The full list of winners is at the ABM site.
