BREAKING NEWS & VIEWS
Nielsen’s Food Retail Books Go to Stagnito Stagnito was formed last year by Harry Stagnito, Kyle Stagnito, Kollin Stagnito and Ned Bardic and currently publishes titles in the civil engineering segment, including CE News and Structural Engineering and Design. Their previous company, Stagnito Communications, owned by Ascend Media, was sold to BNP in 2007, but only after the Stagnitos had built it into a portfolio of more than a dozen magazines. The original Stagnito Communications had been built on a foundation of food industry books. "We’re excited about re-entering the food industry with the acquisition of such highly recognized and respected food media brands, and related products," said Harry Stagnito in a statement. "Our goal is to introduce a new business model to the food market to take advantage of the trend towards targeted and measurable integrated media.” Harry Stagnito, CEO, tells minonline that he plans to build out the stable of food books in their frequency and circulation and “with integrated media products.” “We will not consolidate any of the titles,” he says. As we have been reporting throughout 2009, the food retail category weathered the recession better than most b2b segments. The latest group publisher figures from IMS/The Auditor show that Convenience Store News was down only 5.96% in ad pages for December 2009 vs. December 2008 and CSN Single Store was up .89%. The smaller Gourmet Retailer was down 62.68% for the month. If you have breaking news to share please contact Steve Smith at ssmith@accessintel.com COMMENTS
