BREAKING NEWS & VIEWS
RBI Folds Video Business, MBT and Industrial Distribution RBI CEO John Poulin had said in a leaked end-of-year memo that title closures and layoffs would be forthcoming. RBI was not able to sell the company as a whole and so it was pursuing a divestiture of titles to separate buyers. Poulin warned that some titles would not survive and seemed to prepare staffers for the worst. Other titles seem to be closing as well. According to a statement from the company: "Effective today, RBI-US is closing MBT (Manufacturing Business Technology), Industrial Distribution and Video Business. Also, effective April 8, 2010, DM2 will no longer manage, market or rent 3rd party (non-RBI) lists. DM2 will continue to support internal list management through the resolution of the divestiture process." DM2 is RBI's direct mail and targeted e-mail list management services.
