BREAKING NEWS & VIEWS
Rodale Pumps Up Licensing With Exercise Kits Rodale says its Men’s Health “Ultimate Total-Body Workout” was designed by the editors of the magazine, and the package includes a one-year subscription to the digital edition of the title and a trial offer to the MH online “Personal Trainer” product. The Women’s Health product offers similar value adds, and each exercise kit retails for $49.99. EB Brands also offers monitoring and related sports equipment under the Bally, Everlast and SportLine brands. For a magazine company, these partnerships are low-to-no-cost bundles that help advance the brands and cultivate new magazine loyalists. The digital edition of a magazine and a trial membership to a fee-based virtual coach incur no material costs to the publisher, yet it extends the print brand into local drug and sporting goods stores.
