Nat Geo Gets a Social DirectorTuesday, August 11, 2009 Does your company have a VP of social media yet? National Geographic does. Robert Michael Murray, the developer of emerging technology platforms for Georgetown University, the 2000 Democratic National Convention and a former tech liaison for multiple TV series, will be in charge of leveraging NG content throughout the new and emerging social media platforms. “All media is social in the current climate and media-consumption culture,” says NG Digital Media president John Caldwell, to whom Murray will report. “National Geographic is an inherently social company with an ongoing goal to connect people with stories and visuals.” Murray will develop strategies for using the social nets and sending National Geographic content out into the ecosystem.
