Washington’s Finest Folds
Friday, May 15, 2009

Just when Washington was getting a dose of new style and media razzle-dazzle, the city has lost one of its lifestyle books, Washington’s Finest. The quarterly from The Washington Times announced late yesterday it would be ceasing publication. The current spring ’09 issue is its last. The company tells minonline that one layoff is associated with the closing.

The Times chief revenue and marketing officer Tom Culligan said that the magazine no longer fits with the company’s overall objective: an “ongoing aggressive multimedia push into online, mobile devices, radio and television.”

Washington’s Finest was a 72-page book that covered food, travel, health and beauty, style and celebrity. It had a circulation of 50,000.
