SI Digital Chief Price Steps Down
Tuesday, April 28, 2009
Jeff Price, who was credited with building the Sports Illustrated brand into a digital powerhouse, is leaving his position as SI Digital president. According to the announcement from SI, Price will “pursue other opportunities.” No other reason was given for the longtime SI champion’s departure, although a reorganization last year may have made Price’s role redundant. Vivek Shah, group digital director, Time Inc. News Group, has been overseeing SI Digital since last year. According to the reorganization plan announced in October, Price was reporting to Shah. There are no plans to fill Price’s position at this time, Time Inc. tells minonline.
Price has been with SI since 2002, when he began as VP/CMO; he became president of SI Digital in 2005. Price was integral to building the online presence for SI.com, and SIKids.com, and acquired for SI both Fannation and Golf.com. Price also helped spearhead the massive annual swimsuit extravaganza for SI.com each year.
Price was among the four SI print and digital executives that AdWeek named Executive Team of the Year.
