Playboy’s Meyers Resigns

The tumult at Playboy Enterprises continues, as president of media Bob Meyers announced his resignation as president of the company after nearly three years in the post, effective April 16. Interim chairman and CEO Jerome Kern will assume Meyer’s duties. The company continues to search for a permanent CEO to replace Christie Hefner, who stepped down last year.

Meyers is credited with helping to merge Playboy’s print and online operations last year in an attempt to revitalize the the struggling media side of the business. Before coming to Playboy in 2006, Meyers had been with NBC Universal for 19 years.

Meyers did not give a reason for his departure, but it comes in the midst of massive change and uncertainty within Playboy. The company moved much of its New York operation back to Chicago earlier this year. Revenues fell 18.7% year-over-year in Q4 last year; Kern has said the company would entertain buyout offers.
