March/April 2011 issue: VIV Magazine (consumer)

The digital-only, interactive bimonthly magazine VIV.com offers insight into fitness, wellness, fashion, beauty, awareness and nutrition all aimed at the 35-year-old-plus woman. And the publication found a way to tie each of these areas into one theme – the environment – for its March/April 2011 “green” issue.

From the cover shot of actress Jane Leeves to the plethora of engaging editorial to the rich photography, the issue immerses readers in an environment that promotes a healthier, happier lifestyle. If green is the color of the future, VIV certainly wears it well.

UBM Electronics "The Day the Lights Went Out in Japan": UBM Electronics (b2b winner)

Unscheduled and unbudgeted, this special digital edition brought together all of the UBM Electronics brands right after the March 2011 earthquake and tsunami struck northeastern Japan was because, simply, “We felt strongly that we had a lot of say as a member of the global electronics community,” says Junko Yoshida, editor-in-chief of EE Times.

Using a digital medium enabled the staff to quickly and creatively layout photos, video, audio and editorial materials–materials that resonated strongly within the engineering community. Readership for the Japan digital issue was five times higher than the typical count of 60,000 readers for the print version of EE Times and 123,000 subscribers to EE Times’ digital magazines.

In addition, the digital issue raised more than $133,000 for Japanese citizens and businesses. That’s what we call paying it forward!
