Career Connection: Cio.com (b2b winner)

Writer Meridith Levinson reaches IT and business professionals where they live–online–with her informative, irreverent blog that covers everything from pragmatic job search tips to humorous commentary on career trends. Case in point: A recent post riffed on the movie “Horrible Bosses” to shed light on how companies can lose good employees to bad management.

Although Career Connection is always an enjoyable read, the blog doesn’t shy from the tough topics. Résumé writing and ways to demonstrate strong interviewing skills are bread-and-butter for the blog, which also recently delved into the topic of whether or not to tell your boss you’re looking for another job.

They say a picture paints a thousand words. If that’s true, then Lightbox, the soaring new blog from Time Inc.’s photo department, is abundantly prolific. An exploration of how photography, video and the culture of images define our world through Time Inc.’s commissioned photos and projects from around the globe, LifeBox offers a refined alternative to the Web’s excess. Editors post two times each weekday, with additional posts surrounding breaking news and special events.

“People can linger on the images and draw their own conclusions, which I think resonates most strongly with readers,” says photo editor Paul Moakley. “I think people turn to us to see a fresh perspective on events and to feel more connected to them.”
