Meredith Kopit Levien, Forbes Media senior VP/group publisher since March 2010, was given the added role of chief revenue officer (CRO) with her Feb. 29 promotion by president/CEO (since Dec. 2010) Mike Perlis.

Levien is a protégée of Kevin Gentzel, who had promoted her to group publisher when he was elevated to CRO. Gentzel ending his 13-year Forbes Media career in January 2012 to become CRO of digital video provider News Distribution Network led to Levien to first assume his responsibilities and now get his title.

Pre-Forbes Media, Levien was The Atlantic associate publisher and publisher of Atlantic Media’s short-lived 02138 about Harvard graduates.

Concurrently, Perlis promoted Forbes Media senior VP/digital ad sales Mark Howard to the new position of senior VP of digital advertising strategy. He praises Levien for being "well-known and well-respected in the marketplace, and her sales and business-management skills will propel us to new heights in 2012 and beyond."  And he praises Howard’s "deep experience [that] makes him supremely qualified for his new role."
