Mining Video: Where is the Gold in the Stream?

Media buyers are screaming for more quality video, but how are magazine brands becoming online TV providers with reliable inventory? How are video providers selling pre- and mid-roll inventory to satisfy sponsors without alienating impatient visitors? How are new ad formats like overlays and player skins giving publishers a wider range of products that offer interactivity, share of voice and remain unobtrusive? And what opportunities are available beyond in-stream advertising – for sponsored video bundles, product integration, and user-generated ads? Lastly, we’ll discuss how to best build a mobile version of your Web site that advertisers and readers will want to use.

The State of the Marriage: Print and Online Newsrooms

In their first digital decade, publisher newsrooms have gone back and forth and forth and back again through models for handling print and online duties. Straddling a world of finite deadlines and page counts with a realm of infinite space and news “flow” is still a work in progress and this panel explores how companies are best managing their staffs. We interrogate several models to take the temperature of the digital/print marriage.

This panel will address key questions and concerns such as:

  • How are duties divided, deadlines met and blogging tasks mandated?
  • Can single brand managers handle print and digital or are dedicated online editors the best path?
  • What scenarios are working internally?
