Stuff Shutters: At Least October Issue is ‘Stuffed’

Since The Quadrangle Group bought Felix Dennis’ US-based magazines, rumors have been persistent that the Kent Brownridge-run private equity shop would shutter Stuff as soon as it assumed control of the assets. Well, papers were signed yesterday, completing the transaction, and today the company announced that Stuff will now be a regular section in Maxim, as opposed to a standalone print publication.

At last night’s event, John Lumpkin, publisher of Stuff, told min that the October issue was up 30% in ad pages over October 2006. At least the book went out with a bang.

UPDATE: John Lumpkin tells min that he is currently in discussions with Alpha Media Group--the new name given to the ex-Dennis properties--regarding his role.  While nothing has been agreed upon, Lumpkin hopes to stay on if the right opportunity presents itself.
