New York Yankees' shortstop Derek Jeter was further immortalized Dec. 1 with his being presented 2009 Sports Illustrated "Sportsman of the Year." Here, Jeter (second from right) is photographed at the New York reception with (left to right) baseball commissioner Bud Selig, SI group editor Terry McDonell, SI senior writer Tom Verducci and group publisher Mark Ford. Interestingly, none of Jeter's Yankee teammates were on hand, but more important to him was the presence of his parents, with his father, Dr. Charles Jeter, making the presentation.
