More/Fitness Runs for Empowerment
Hosted by supermodel, actress and author Carol Alt, the event was about bringing together women (more than 50% being women 40+), representing 48 states and nine countries, to celebrate health and fitness. The invigorating run raised $27,000 for Care, an organization that empowers women around the world to help end global poverty. Betty Wong, Fitness’ EIC, who completed the half marathon, checked in with minonline after catching her breath: “Despite the soaring temperatures, everyone’s energy and spirits were high, and it was incredibly inspiring to see so many runners and walkers conquering the hills of Central Park with big smiles on their faces. And no matter how fast or slow you finished, the day was all about celebrating the strength and power that women have to reach for [to] accomplish their health and fitness goals.”
