Bowl-a-thon for Breast Cancer

On Feb. 11 the first annual ING New York City Bowling for Breastcancer.org bowl-a-thon took place at Lucky Strike Lanes in Manhattan. The event was hosted by key players in the New York City communications industry (media, marketing and advertising professionals) and anchored by lead sponsor ING.

Leslie Laredo, president of Laredo Group, and most of the senior executives involved had never thrown a fundraising event before, much less worked together. Nevertheless, they exceeded their fundraising goal of $400,000, with more than 400 attendees. The proceeds will fund essential educational efforts and groundbreaking new programming.

This fundraiser was close to home for so many because this disease has directly or indirectly affected the lives of many (one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime).
