ESPN The Magazine 10th Anniversary Party Grand Slam

Good thing we stretched out before this one. Over 1,200 celebrities, advertisers and publishing industry guests came out to play last night for ESPN The Magazine’s 10th Anniversary Party held at Terminal 5 on the West Side. Bouncers in referee uniforms gave us the non-red carpet entry nod at 9 on the dot (we were fashionably early). Popcorn, M&Ms and various other game snacks were the fare of the night though we figured wings and apps would've been good game food too. DJ Reach warmed up the crowd before Third Eye Blind played a set for the packed room who only needed to hear a few chords before giving a collective, “Oh yeah, I remember these guys!” Not much of a chance for networking or chatting with industry pals as the cage dancers and popcorn-servers in mini-skirts seemed to distract even the sober eyes. Plus the music was so loud it could be heard from Jersey, where incidentally the Nets beat the Cavs (wonder if the March 24th 10th Anniversary cover boy LeBron James felt like partying after the game?). From where we were standing, the bash was a total winner.

Rumor has it more fun was to be had in overtime, but with work in the morning we had to forfeit the game and head home to dream up more sports references.
