FROM THE FRONTLINES :: BUSINESS CASUAL

They’re Bringing "More" Sexy Back

Who says men age more gracefully than women? Certainly no one who attended last night’s party in honor of More magazine/Wilhelmina’s 40+ Model Search finalists. Approximately 250 people packed it into Cipriani to watch 10 lovely vintage ladies do a little turn on the catwalk (in the fashion creations of Heidi Weisel, no less) after enduring what must have been a tedious climb to the top (they had to survive rigorous rounds of judging to whittle the pool of 14,000 applicants to a mere 10 finalists).
But, of course, the runway show couldn’t begin before the massive buffet spread and free-flowing champagne were sufficiently tapped. During this feeding frenzy, the min team caught up with More Publisher Brenda Saget Darling, who bravely “left her husband with the models” to chat and admire celebrity host Joan Allen’s beauty with us. (“She’s the thinking woman’s actress,” Saget Darling said. “There’s a genuine person there.” The novelty!)
When seats were taken and lights were dimmed, only one thing could be a showstopper: Dieter Esch, chairman of Wilhelmina. He poignantly opened his welcome monologue with this gem: “I feel like I’m aging rapidly because every time I come to his event, [everyone at More] is new.” Ouch! But Saget Darling took it in stride, and everything worked out in the end.
Oh, yeah, and the winner: Chung Winstanley, a 45-year-old project management consultant from New Jersey. But our favorite had to be the second runner-up, Julia Jordan, who owned the runway much to the appreciation of her wildly enthusiastic husband sitting a few rows behind us. Yeah, if she were our wife, we’d be that excited too.

"lovely vintage ladies" -- you have got to be kidding me! Even without the pictures, I can't imagine how anyone these days can describe women in their 40s and 50s as "vintage." And the pictures say it all. These women are hot.
