“I am a…uh…uh…52 year old man,” said Jim Cramer last night at a small Gotham cocktail party at Gin Lane (355 w. 14th St.), “and I shouldn't be sexy or exciting to anyone, but Jason Binn makes me feel like I maybe just might be. I love him. I love this guy.”
Cramer and Binn are neighbors in Manhattan. Binn thought it would be a good idea to bring the famously reclusive (what?!) Cramer out from under his rock and showcase him to the public. Once on the mike and in front of the camera, Cramer quickly lost his shy, soft-spoken demeanor (?!) that he’s known for:
“The people that watch and love Mad Money [Cramer’s CNBC shout-hour about trading] the most are those that realize that it’s a standup comedy show. I am a standup comedian.”
(Cramer also later told the min team privately afterward that he only realized his comic status this past Friday and that he now sees himself as George Carlin’s heir.)
What was to be a Q&A for Cramer quickly turned into a Q&A for Binn.
Cramer: “Downtown is booming right now. When are you going to do a downtown magazine?”
Binn: “Tribeca is big, downtown is big, but we’re doing Poughkeepsie first. Look out for Poughkeepsie Confidential coming soon.” You heard it here first, minsiders.
Huffington + Cramer
Later on in the night, Arianna Huffington of Huffington Post fame arrived to see Cramer, although this wasn’t merely a social call. Huffington asked Cramer if he would write a blog for Huffington Post, and he agreed.
“You’re all witnesses,” said Binn. |
