Last week, Paste editor-in-chief Josh Jackson launched his new blog, “High Gravity” on pastemagazine.com. The pop culture blog essentially reflects Paste’s unique flavor of music, film and culture. Topics range from best sitcoms since 1980 to CD picks and a bit of the unlikely, such as the June 5 post titled “Top 10 Kids Songs That Don’t Suck”, which was particularly amusing, especially since two of the 10 are by 90’s quirksters They Might Be Giants.
After years of building what is now one of the most well-known destinations for music and pop culture info that can’t be found on the pages of the countless other music/culture mags, Jackson was ready to let go a bit and let his opinions live openly on the site. “Plus it keeps me writing….after all the editing I’ve been doing, it feels good, “ Jackson told minonline. The feedback on “High Gravity” has been positive and steady so far, mostly coming in the form of e-mails rather than comments.
Blogs are a tough sell since everyone has one, but here’s to hoping Paste will help Jackon’s stick.
Keep checking back to Pastemagazine.com, as Jackson has a few other tricks up his sleeve, including the launch of Paste’s social networking site due at the end of July.
