12 Weeks to a Healthier Family: Parents Magazine (consumer)
Parents’ series about upping the family’s health, nutrition and fitness levels spanned three magazine features and a complementary online component that collectively presented 48 individual goals.
“We know that parents want to take steps to improve their family’s health but that they are often overwhelmed by how exactly to do that,” says Diane Debrovner, Parents deputy editor. “This was a compelling series because it made it easy for readers to take small but significant steps, and the tone was encouraging and not guilt-provoking.”
Indeed, the achievability of the goals was key to the series’ success. “We understood that readers needed to believe they could pull off any of the mini-goals we recommended in our first installment in order to pay attention to parts 2 and 3,” she says.
New Orleans: The Rotarian (b2b winner)
Blending unique storytelling methods to explore a single theme is a hallmark of a great series. In its tribute to the Big Easy, The Rotarian juxtaposed three very different perspectives of the city in a provocative manner that deftly evoked the eclectic spirit of New Orleans.
The greatest challenge was producing a package that integrated the lively with the timeless, says John Rezek, editor-in-chief of The Rotarian.
“Our readers look for a deep experience of the places they visit: They want both practical information on volunteer projects and cultural insights. Finding projects that would remain viable in the new year and cultural musings that continue to stay fresh demanded careful planning and attention to detail.”
