Chelstowski Departs Entertainment Weekly

Ray Chelstowski, Entertainment Weekly publisher since May 2009, told his staff this morning (Nov. 19) that he had resigned. The news was first reported on The Hollywood Reporter‘s Web site and confirmed to min by EW and Time Inc.

Numbers-wise, Chelstowski’s EW tenure was a success because the magazine’s +20.71% ad-page differential through Nov. 19 made it a certainty that 2010 would be the first year for EW to post a gain since 2003. Chelstowski was creative both digitally and with event marketing, with the newest being EW‘s tie-in to last summer’s Comic-Con in San Diego.

Chelstowski had "come home" to EW, where he was national sales director in the mid-2000s. Subsequently, he was Rolling Stone publisher (2007-2008) and founding publisher (April 2009) of Prestige New York, which went to the ultra-affluent ($10 million-plus annual income).
