Evan Chodos, Executive Beauty Director, People and Entertainment Weekly

When it came to expanding the Time Inc. Style & Entertainment Group’s (SEG) relationship with L’Oreal Paris, Chodos saw red. Red carpet, that is. Capitalizing on SEG’s access to preeminent events and retail exposure, he created “Discover Your Star Beauty,” a campaign spanning print, digital, events, retail and sampling that gave L’Oreal high exposure from the Golden Globes to Walmart.

The L’Oreal campaign earns Chodos our top nod this year. And, he’s worth it. So successful was the partnership that he parlayed a promotional extension that this year will include such additional events as the Latin Grammys, and People en Espanol's Most Powerful Women.

“L’Oreal Paris, a major beauty client, was looking for a high-level exposure program with access to celebrities, tastemakers, and consumers,” Chodos says.

Chodos’ contributions are more than skin deep. Under his leadership the Style & Entertainment Group’s print paging grew 17% in 2010 year over year, and digital revenue shot up 28%.

Apparently closing $429,000 in annual print contracts in one week last year was not enough for Ryder, who now is spearheading the transition of $100,000-plus print clients to 50/50 print/online buys.
