Winner: Condé Nast Digital for Style.com – “CandyCast”

Fashion doyen Candy Pratts Price has made her name as Vogue’s fashion director of accessories, as a creative director for Ralph Lauren and even as the inspiration for a film, Lady Beware. But her effusive style, signature look and rush of opinions find a special home in the virtual body of an animated avatar in the CandyCast series. Partnered with Oddcast, the developer of real-time lip-synched avatars, Style.com went beyond the usual online avatar. Candy’s digital persona was designed by illustrator Bruno Frisoni and creative designer Roger Vivier, who bring Candy’s sweep of hair, gestures and facial characteristics to an animated persona that’s in perfect sync with her own voice. Whether she is gushing over Nina Ricci sky-high stilettos or offering instructions for filling Sunday afternoons, Candy’s unmistakable voice and character narrate this monthly dip into personal fashion advice. The CandyCast demonstrates how technology and strong design sense can enhance editorial. This light and different take on fashion brings the personality of the editor forward in a fun, informative way that is so much more lively than just another runway parade.

Go into the closet (literally) with editors Tyler Thorson and Josh Peskowitz, who often invite guests to squeeze in and frequently attract advertisers of a high caliber. The closet gets crowded, but Men.Style.com delivers the range of its content in a watchable visual form.

The New Yorker for The Campaign Trail Podcast on newyorker.com: This weekly roundtable of commentary and campaign insight by the magazine’s leading editors and journalists brought the magazine and site’s political coverage to life. It provided a more measured, incisive approach than the predictable punditry that filled radio and cable TV last season.

Source Media for ABTV on the Radar: American Banker delivers a fresh daily dose of news, as well as first looks at upcoming stories on the front page and on the site. This is like a thumbnail of the brand’s coverage delivered by noon every workday.
