min’s Best of Web Awards Lunch on Tuesday, March 21 from 12:30-2:30 p.m. in New York City will celebrate the winners and honorees of min’s annual awards program. The competition identifies exceptional work in the digital space, recognizing outstanding social media, web and mobile initiatives among publishers of digital content—whether they are b2b, b2c, association or online-only publications.

During the program, we’ll award Randall Rothenberg (President & CEO of the IAB) with the Defense of Journalism Award, a new honor from min that salutes the efforts of someone who stands behind ethical journalism and combats “fake news.”

We’ll also welcome six individuals into min’s Digital Hall of Fame—these professionals have helped to transform the digital space within the magazine media industry! Don’t miss this exciting celebratory occasion.

Defense of Journalism Award

Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB)

Rothenberg in January called for an industrywide effort to combat fake news. There’s a direct connection, he said, between fake news and click fraud, fraudulent non-human traffic, consumer data breaches, privacy violations, and the sources of ad-blocking—all of which contribute to the loss of credibility and spending in the advertising ecosystem. But more than that, he said, by not fighting fake news and the systems that allow it to flourish, you’re enabling a threat not just to the media industry, but to democracy.  “Civic responsibilities overlap with their business obligations,” he declared.
