Computerworld Sets Web 'Bait'
There is a handful of sectors benefiting from the recession. Dollar stores and Wal-Mart, for instance. Fast food—McDonald’s is doing nicely, thank you very much. And then there are those virtual trade shows. Really? According to InXpo, 2008 represented a key transition year for the company as major brands and large corporations joined trade publishers as principal clients.

The model for online events has evolved from its antediluvian days of five years ago, according to InXpo CEO Malcolm Lotzof. “When we started in 2003 it was all virtual trade shows [for us],” says Lotzof. “Then it migrated to career fairs and publishers looking for new revenue. By the end of 2008, everything changed.
